Privacy policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

This policy describes finding-alpha-sync, a personal research snapshot workflow operated through rclone, and this informational website.

1. Scope and operator

The operator is the person who configures and runs finding-alpha-sync using their Google account and local computer. The workflow transfers research snapshot files to and from a Google Drive location selected by that operator. This website is an informational site, not a hosted sync service.

2. Google data accessed and purpose

Through rclone and the authorized Google OAuth client, the workflow accesses Drive file contents and metadata needed to locate, upload, download and verify research snapshots. Metadata may include names, identifiers, paths, sizes and content hashes. Snapshot contents may include research datasets, manifests and supporting files selected by the operator.

The permission granted to rclone may allow access beyond the designated snapshot location, including listing, reading, creating, updating or deleting Drive files. A configured destination is a workflow choice, not a technical folder-only permission boundary.

Google data is used to perform the operator's requested file transfers, integrity checks and restoration. The described workflow does not use it for advertising, profiling or resale.

3. Credentials and storage

Google handles sign-in and consent. rclone stores OAuth tokens in the operator's local configuration. This website does not receive Google passwords, OAuth tokens, client secrets or research snapshot files.

Transferred files are stored in the selected Google Drive account. Local source files, downloaded copies, restored files and operational logs may also remain on the operator's devices. Files are not made public merely by this website's existence; actual Drive sharing permissions remain under the account holder's control.

4. Service providers and sharing

Google processes authorization and Drive storage under its applicable terms and privacy policy. Cloudflare hosts this website. If the operator chooses to move snapshots into another research service, that service processes the data under its own terms; such a transfer is separate from this website.

The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

5. Retention, deletion and revocation

The operator determines how long local and Drive files and logs are retained. This website does not apply an automatic deletion schedule to those files.

Google access can be revoked through Google Account connections. Revocation prevents subsequent authorized access; it does not automatically delete files already uploaded, downloaded or restored, or local configuration and logs. The operator must delete unwanted copies from Google Drive and local devices separately.

6. Website requests and cookies

This website contains static pages, with no application sign-in, submission forms, analytics scripts or application cookies. Visiting it does not authorize Google Drive access.

The hosting provider may process request metadata such as IP address, browser information and request time for delivery, security and operations, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. This policy does not promise that the hosting provider keeps no logs.

7. Contact and changes

For questions about this application or data handling, contact the support email displayed on the Google OAuth consent screen for finding-alpha-sync.

This policy may be updated when the workflow changes. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
